How do I strip paint from bent plywood chairs?
I have bought some bent plywood chairs (they look like Arne Jacobson butterfly chairs) from a junk shop, trouble is they are painted blue.
some of the paint is chipped and I can see that they were not this colour originally; I'd love to get the original wood back but am worried about damaging them

If in the UK, Nitromors, but use in a very well ventilated area as it is a very strong smell to it...Also when you sand down DO NOT use cheap sandpaper it only lasts a very short time...
Once sanded wash down several times with sugarsoap, until satisfied the work is all clean..
Finally use Yacht varnish when you varnish, it really is the best for durability...Good luck..

You can use one of the gel paint strippers available at your local paintshop or hardware store. Gently scrape away the yucky stuff, let the chairs dry and use some fine sandpaper to remove the lagging bits.

If you don't fancy messing with chemicals then buy a hot air stripper and scraper. They cost less than £10 from B&Q or I've even seen them in Aldi/Lidl. These things soften the paint so you can easily lift it off with the scraper.
Sand it sown and cover with a good varnish.
